Italy - Curiosity - Back to index

By: Carlo Piccinelli

Mount Viso on Google Maps.
Monte Viso o Monviso (3842m), is one of the most famous mountains of Italy because from its slopes it originates the Po River, Italy's longest river that runs through famous cities like Turin and flows into the Adriatic Sea near Venice. This first reportage, began in the small town of Ristolas in the Queyras region (France) and after a day of walking, you reach the refuge Vallanta (2450 m). The trip around Mount Viso, takes place with the help of pack animals suitable to the mountains as the llama, in the case of this reportage, but also mules and other beasts of burden. The full tour of Mount Viso, takes place in 5 days/4 nights, nights spent in mountain huts. An unforgettable journey for those who are avid of mountain, silence and beautiful panoramas of alps.
