Dordogne on Google Maps.
A journey along the banks of the river Dordogne, a tributary of the river Garonne, is a journey that offers many ideas not only naturalistic but historical and gastronomic also. The journey starts from the meeting point between the two rivers, visiting the fortified citadel of the village of Bourg, designed in the twelfth century by the French military architect Vauban. Going up the river you pass on the Eiffel bridge, named after the famous designer of the Tower of Paris, a true work of engineering for that time. From village to village you arrive at the medieval village of Saint Emilion, a jewel of architecture with the biggest church in France carved into the rock. Among the alleys and squares of the village there are handicraft shops but above all wineries where you can taste the wines produced in the Bordeaux region. Typical dishes and desserts as the Macarons can be tasted in the numerous restaurants of the town, concluding very well a journey through history, colors and flavors.
