Roquebrune Vieux Ville on Google Maps
Arised around the year one thousand, the village was built by the Count of Ventimiglia on the ancient Roman road of Via Julia Augusta, the village was used to defend the western borders of the county from the assaults of pirate bands that from the sea tried to reach the rich territories of the interior area. Today the village is completely renovated and is a destination for tourists who leave the nearby beaches to enjoy a bit of cool hilly and to visit the ruins of the ancient medieval fortress. The village is accessed by car or by foot along the Chemin of Menton the path used in the Middle Ages to reach the castle from the sea and today a beautiful uphill walk of about one hour among olive trees among which a olive tree dating back 2000 years ago. A beautiful vacation to discover the most secret French Riviera.
