The historic center of Nice is a jump into the past between ancient buildings in Piedmontese Baroque style, similar to the historic buildings of the Italian city of Turin, and narrow alleys that penetrate into the center until squares packed with tourists visiting the city. The old port is particular surrounded on three sides by splendid buildings some dating back to the nineteenth century. The main square of the old town of Nice and the market square or rather the two Cours Salayea (Boulevard) crowded with stalls of flowers and fruit, vegetables and handicrafts that lead to the large Place Pierre Gautier where painters gather to exhibit their works to tourists. There are many places to visit in the historic center of Nice but not to be missed to taste the Socca, the tasty chickpea farinata or the typical dishes of the cuisine of Nice with Piedmontese and Savoyard influences.
