Mouans-Sartroux on Google Maps.
Among the villages of the eastern French Riviera, the historic center of Mouans-Sartroux is certainly unusual, given the villagers' passion for greenery, flowers and plants in general. The castle itself is unusual, as instead of a square layout as was common in the Middle Ages, it has a triangular layout with a tower at each corner. The castle's large park likely inspired the villagers outside the walls to decorate the facades of their houses and the alleys that crisscross the village with a garden, so much so that the plants have invaded the alleys. Strolling through the village, you'll notice windows decorated with flowerpots and plants, both ornamental and used to enhance traditional French cuisine. The street plants sometimes occupy almost the entire space between the alley facades, so much so that the taverns and small restaurants in the village are sometimes difficult to see amidst the plants that decorate the alleys. Mouans-Sartroux is worth a visit during the spring flowering season, when the village is bathed in vibrant colors. During a holiday on the French Riviera, located a few kilometers inland from Cannes, a visit to the medieval village of Mouans-Sartroux is a pleasant moment of relaxation not far from the crowded Croisette, the shops and the beaches of the French Riviera.
