Murren on Google Maps.
Reach the village of Murren in winter, is a journey within a journey.
Located in the Jungfrau Region (Bernese Alps), Murren is reached by a cableway from Lauterbrunnen (795 m) that reach a small railway station and then, with a little train that runs along the mountain at about 1600 meters above sea level, to finally get to Murren (1610 m).
Murren is a quiet mountain village, with numerous ski slopes but surely the best slope known is the one that start to the summit of the Schilthorn mountain where in the 1960 it was built a refuge in which they were filmed footage of the spectacular movie "007 On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Today, the refuge has been transformed into a revolving restaurant that allows you to observe, at 360°, the Swiss Alps. It has recently been inaugurated, in the halls of the shelter Piz Gloria, the Bond Museum, a museum dedicated to James Bond (played by actor George Lazenby in 1969) and to the set where the movie was filmed. Get off the slopes that depart from the summit of the Schilthorn is exciting and unforgettable especially for the landscape and for the black slopes.
Murren it is a high-level tourist destination both for skiing and for its particularities as the Street Museum, dozens of windows in the streets of the town that tell the history and culture of the valley, try the sledding slopes or, in the evenin, in the charming restaurant of the Hotel Blumental, enjoy delicious dishes of Swiss Alpine cuisine
