The peninsula on Google Maps.
The journey on the coasts of Peloponnese, continues along the central peninsula (the first peninsula of Laconia Region). From Kalamata, last major city in the region of Messinia, after some chilometres, you visit the village of Kardamyli from where begins an historic stretch of coast characterized by the presence of numerous fortified citadels of Venetian origin as Neo Itylo and Gerolimenas. Near Neo Itylo, the Dhiros caves are another beautiful destination of this journey. The caves, a true spectacle of nature, are passable in part with a small boats and partly by foot. The tip of the peninsula is Cape Tenaro, with rocky cliffs and gulfs that penetrate in the territory. The beaches of Kotala and Scutari, along the coast east of the peninsula, allow moments of relax before reaching the town of Ghythio, one of the most touristic towns of the east coast.
