During the Christmas season, the old town of Annecy, known as the "Venice of Alps" become a meeting point for travelers looking for unusual places to spend Christmas holidays. The reason is due to the ancient medieval houses that overlook the waters of the canals, once navigable, which are used to control the water level of alpine lake of Annecy. During Christmas, the squares, streets and bridges of the old town are crowded with tourists visiting the Christmas markets in the ancient and fascinating atmosphere. At night, the lights along the canals and the bridges that connect the downtown alleys, create a very special atmosphere and very Christmassy. In the streets then, there are shops that are true delights for lovers of local products ranging from mountain cheese to desserts chocolate products in the confectioneries of Annecy. A trip for curious and greedy tourists.
