The Canal du Center, built in the late eighteenth century, immediately became an important link between the agricultural territories of the Loire basin and the industrial areas of the Saône and Rhône increasing trade with the markets of the south, with Paris and the northwest French. With the industrial crisis, the channel lost importance, but since the end of the eighties, thanks to tourism that has allowed the restructuring of important territorial works and the policy of development of the municipalities that have encouraged cycling routes and guided visits to museums and towns, the Canal du Center has seen an international boom with charter boat tourism visiting the wine cellars of central-eastern France.
