Part of the Scottish Highlands, the island is known for tourism and the presence of the famous whisky distilleries. Connected to the Scottish coast by a bridge, the island has a wild and uncontaminated nature with pastures, heather moors and wooded areas. The rugged coastline with deep bays that penetrate the territory creating numerous peninsulas generally hilly. Portree is the largest inhabited center while on the territory there are small villages generally of farmers and fishermen. On a trip to Skye island not to be missed and visit castles, small museums with exhibits of Celtic and Norse artefacts and the turbulent struggles between the Scottish clans.
