Darwin on Google Maps
Darwin is the beginning of a long journey across Australia and it is also the beginning of the Stuart Highway, the road which crosses the central Australian desert to reach, after 3000 km, Adelaide, a road that runs parallel to the historic Ghan Railway. Darwin is located in the tropical area and is subject to two seasons, the rainy season and the dry period. This climate makes the area particularly rich in vegetation, rivers, swamps and waterfalls. The city of Darwin is also home of a large museum that collects the history, culture and traditions of this remote Australian town. Built in 1869, bombed by the Japanese in 1942 during World War II, destroyed by a cyclone in 1974, today Darwin is an important and modern tourist town. A lot of travellers depart from Darwin to the discovery of Aboriginal lands, parks and desert lands of the center of Australia.
