Lake Gairdner on Google Maps.
We left the Northern Territory and we enter in South Australia and immediately a surprise: the city undergroud of Coober Pedy, the place where people come from all over the world to dig in the desert to find the opal rock. A drop of fossil water that collects inside crystallized minerals that refract the sunlight into a thousand colors. After visiting Coober Pedy, you leave the Stuart Highway to enter in the desert and reach the salt lake of Gairdner along the Kingoonya Iron Knob Road. The lake Gairdner is a spectacular land of salt that suddenly appears between the red sand of the desert. The journey ends in Adelaide. A city in balance between ancient and modern, which collects, in his great Museum of Trains, the history of rail transport in Australia.
