Inhabited by the Arawaks people, from the arrival of the Spaniards in 1550, the island have completely changed his fate. About 180 km long and with an average width of only 2 kilometers, Eleuthera was among 1950 and 1980, one of the most frequented island by rich Americans on vacation in the Bahamas.
